Politically Correct This

I grow ever so weary of the politically correct game.  Everyone is so worried about being politically correct that we're losing sight of who we are.

After reading this article I felt anger.  "Christ is missing from Christmas in this small town. The community's holiday display has a manger with shepherds, a guiding star, camels and a palm tree, but no baby Jesus, Mary or Joseph."

How does one rationalize displaying a manger scene sans the main characters?

"In recent years, some communities around the country have dropped nativity scenes after the displays were challenged as unconstitutional."

That is just ridiculous. Let's digress back to the early 1600's when America became a safe haven for the religiously persecuted. Yeah they didn't have electricity, but by jove they were free to worship as they pleased.

I am not offended by the menorah. I am not offended by a nun's habit. I am not offended by a statue of Buddha with offerings surrounding it. (I am offended by polygamists, but that's another story)

It bugs me to no end when people are told to take down the American flag. This happened in Florida right after September 11th. Fire engines were told to remove the American flag from the sides of their vehicles as to not offend those from other countries.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.

Americans have the right to have flags waving in, on, and around their homes; they live in AMERICA. Just as Germans should wave their country's flags, and Italians should wave their country's flag, etc.  There is nothing politically correct about being unpatriotic.

Even though I am ESL (English as a Second Language) endorsed, it bothers me somewhat that the United States bends over backwards to educate, medicate and pay for aliens--legal or not--while ignoring its own uneducated, uninsured, and impoverished.  If I moved to Portugal, I would learn Portuguese.  If I moved to France, I would learn the French language and so on. If non-native non-English speakers move to America i.e. the United States, then by damn they should learn English. It's not about respecting others. It's about self responsibility, not to mention being bilingual is hugely beneficial.

The day America allows a Christmas manger scene to be displayed minus baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph is the day we need to reevaluate the very thing America stands for--freedom, respectful of righteous, non-harmful religious beliefs, and legal patriotism.  God bless America and heaven help the fools.
